MOST PEOPLE CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT FOOD FOR 8-21 DAYS

There are many key components to survival and food is definitely one of the most important.

Food provides the energy and nutrients our bodies need to function properly. It helps us stay warm, strong, and healthy. Without food, we would not be able to survive for very long.

That is why it is so important to have a good diet full of nutritious foods. We need to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein-rich foods, and healthy fats.

This will give us the energy we need to do everyday activities as well as keep our bodies healthy and strong.

During a real emergency, especially a global emergency, the ability to purchase food may be impaired.

Having specific skills that relate to food, such as stretching your budget when food is available, learning how to butcher your own meats, plant your own vegetables, catch your own fish, and understanding the best methods for preserving those supplies may mean a world of difference to your safety.

The needed skills can date back thousands of years, such as using a root cellar, to newer options such as dried food storage, vacuum sealing, and canning.

PROTECT YOUR FOOD SUPPLY.

Acquiring and storing a large food supply for yourself and your family takes time, planning, space and lifestyle chamges.

THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BUY THE FOOD YOU NEED AT A STORE

In the event, you need to provide food for a long-term disaster, and especially if you are already lacking a sizable food storage supply, then you are going to need other methods of acquiring or accessing the needed food supply for yourself and your family.

WHAT'S YOUR FOOD PLAN?

If you did not plan properly with stored food buckets, then you might want to hone up on your food-related skills and get a plan together to provide the much need caloric resources and nourishment.

There are only a few basic methods of acquiring food, some you might not like, or worse, aren't willing to do, but this is about survival, not petty little issues like being squeamish.

Hunting, Gathering, Growing, Buying, Begging, Stealing - Which is for you?

There are only a few basic methods for you to acquire food, depending on such factors as exactly how hungry you are, your desperation level, and access to things such as open lands to hunt, water supplies, and skills such as your knowledge of edible plants, you will have to begin making choices right away.

Hunting for food is a decent option for those who have hunting skills, access to trapping techniques, a bow and arrow, or a gun.

Hunting large games, depending on your situation, may be out of season, but many small game animals and some states have open seasons on "invasive" or rodent species.

These are not always the best eating meats, but eating a squirrel is still better than starving.

Gathering food will require a specific set of knowledge as to exactly what foods can be readily eaten fresh.

For example, just because you see a berry on a bush or a fruit in a tree does not mean that you are going to be able to eat them.

Manchineel is a tree whose fruit may resemble that of an apple tree, but its fruits and leaves produce a deadly toxin that can cause great suffering.

While most fruit trees are edible, it still is best to keep to ones you know for sure, such as ones you already eat.
